Maruti Suzuki Becomes India’s First Carmaker To Achieve 20 Million Production Mark

Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has crossed the 20 million cars production milestone at its Gurugram and Manesar facilities. With this distinctive feat, MSI becomes India’s first carmaker to achieve this mark. The Indo-Japanese carmaker took 34 years and 6 months to attain the milestone. The major production contribution came from Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant that made 5.62 million units (28.15 percent) out of 20 million cars. The company’s Gurugram based facility produced 14.37 million (71.85 percent) vehicles. Currently, the Indo-Japanese carmaker retails 16 models across different segments in India, and exports them over 100 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America. 2018 has been a fruitful year for the Indo-Japanese carmaker so far. The company produced 17,68,488 (11.78 percent growth) units, out of which it sold a record 16,43,467 units in the domestic market and exported 1,23,903 units. From April to June 2018, the carmaker manufactured 4,74,970 units and retailed 4,58,967 units in India, whole the export figure stood at 25,724 units. Maruti Suzuki now aims to achieve 2.5 million sales milestone by 2022-23.
