Maruti Suzuki Registers 14.4% Sales Growth In April 2018

In April 2018, the carmaker recorded a total sales of 172,986 units, there by accounting a growth of 14.4%.

Maruti Suzuki India has announced a good sales performance for April 2018. The Indo-Japanese carmaker registered a total sales of 172,986 units against 151,215 units of the same month last year, accounting a growth of 14.4 per cent. The sales figures include both domestic and export markets.

Compared to the sales of April 2017, the company sold 163,434 units of the passenger vehicles in the domestic market last month. This saw a growth of 13.4 per cent. The commercial sales figure stood at 1,544 units against 411 units of last year, there by registering a growth of over 275 per cent. With a total sales of 8,008 units, the export sales shot up by 19.1 per cent in April, 2018. The carmaker exported 6,723 vehicles during the same month last year. In the passenger vehicles segment, Maruti Suzuki’s new products continue to be strong sellers including the new-generation Swift. As of now, we don’t have the individual sales figures of each car. In the compact car segment, the carmaker recorded 83,834 units sales, growing by 31.8%, as opposed to 68,584 units sold during the same month last year. This segment also includes the Celerio hatchback, Ignis mini-hatch, Baleno premium hatchback, Dzire compact sedan and Dzire Tour S.

The UV segment recorded a growth of 0.8 per cent over last year. However, the carmaker witnessed major sales downfall in the C-segment sedan space. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz registered its lowest ever monthly sales of 5,116 units, accounting a drop of 27.2 per cent. The sales graph of the Maruti Ciaz has been constantly dropping since September 2017. Therefore, the company is planning to give a mid-life update to the sedan which is due for August 2018. For 2018 model year, the Ciaz will see subtle aesthetic and feature upgrades along with a new 1.5-litre petrol and diesel powertrains.
