Maruti Suzuki Aims To Sell 18,000 New WagonR Every Month – Report
The new-generation Maruti WagonR hatchback will go on sale early next year.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is ready to launch the next-generation Ertiga MPV, followed by the new-generation WagonR hatchback. While the former will hit showrooms next month, the latter will see a release early next year. According to a latest report, the Indo-Japanese carmaker aims to sell 18,000 units of the new Maruti WagonR 2019 on monthly basis.
From the last 10 years, the Maruti WagonR has been among the top 5 best-selling cars in the country. The hatchback crossed over 20 lakh sales mark since its launch in 1999. Maruti Suzuki claims that about 45% customers purchase the WagonR as their first car and around 20% WagonR customers have brought the car multiple times. Unlike Maruti Suzuki’s new breed cars that are based on the new HEARTECT platform, the new-generation Maruti WagonR will feature the modified version of the existing architecture. This will help the carmaker maintain the competitive price range. It will have direct rivalry with the Tata Tiago, which is reported to enter into its new-generation in coming years. Under the hood, the new Maruti WagonR 2019 will continue to feature the same 1.0-lirte, 3-cylinder K-Series petrol engine pushing out power worth 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. Though, it could be upgraded to meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The hatchback could be brought either with a manual gearbox or an AMT transmission. Sporting ‘tall-boy’ design, the Maruti WagonR will witness comprehensive design and styling upgrades. It will feature new sweptback headlamps, new front grille, revised front bumper and more prominent wheel arches. The refreshed version is likely to get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
