New Maruti S-Cross Facelift To Get SHVS Mild Hybrid System

New Maruti Suzuki S-Cross facelift will be equipped with SHVS mild hybrid technology; bookings open.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker is all set to launch the Suzuki S-Cross facelift in the country. It was speculated that the new S-Cross facelift will get a new petrol engine. However, new media reports suggest that the crossover will be the third MSI product in India to feature Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid system. Adding to it, the car will miss out on top-end 1.6-litre diesel engine. It will only come with a 1.3-litre MJD diesel engine coupled to a SHVS mild hybrid system.

Some of the Maruti Suzuki dealerships have already started taking pre-orders for the New Maruti S-Cross. With SHVS technology, the new model is likely to be more fuel efficient than the current car. The 1.3-litre MJD diesel engine is sourced from Fiat, and is capable of producing 89bhp of power at 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 200Nm at 1,750rpm. It is expected that the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross facelift will be expensive than the current model. Under GST regime, the government has withdrawal all the benefits on hybrid cars in India. Due to GST tax regime, Maruti Suzuki has recently increased the prices of the Ciaz and Ertiga hybrids in the market. New Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Images

The updated S-Cross is already on sale in the Japanese and European markets. The India-spec model is expected to share most of its styling cues and components from this global model. The front fascia of the crossover looks more aggressive, equipped with new radiator grille with chrome finished vertical slats, projector headlamps with LED DRLs and re-designed bumper with wider airdam and a muscular bonnet. This crossover will get a new set diamond cut alloy wheels, new bumper and revised LED rear combination lamps.

Inside the cabin, the Suzuki S-Cross facelift will get an updated 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity. This crossover gets a newly designed soft-touch dashboard pad, new instrument console with MID, new upholstery for seat and new framing highlights for the centre panel.
