Maruti Readying Wagon R Based New Model for Nexa

New Maruti WagonR 2019 Details

Maruti Suzuki had launched the new-gen Wagon R tall-boy hatchback in January 2019. The hatchback has been receiving excellent response from buyers and is currently listed in top 5 selling cars of India. Maruti Suzuki has recently introduced the more premium XL6 variant of the Ertiga, which is sold through Nexa dealerships. If media reports are to be believed, the company is also readying a more premium and Nexa-only variant of the Wagon R hatchback.

The new version of the Wagon R for the Nexa is likely to be launched by the end of October. This could be the move to improve sales during the festive season, Diwali. Maruti Suzuki will also launch the S-Presso mini SUV on September 30, 2019. It is expected that the new version of the Wagon R could be called the Maruti Suzuki XL5.

It could get dual-tone shades. The new model is likely to be offered on the top-spec Alpha and Zeta variants.

The Nexa-only Wagon R will be powered by the BSVI compliant 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 82bhp of power at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4,200rpm. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT (AGS).

The upcoming Wagon R based model, likely to be called the XL5, could be priced around Rs 5.5 lakh – Rs 6.5 lakh. The new model is likely to receive high-end features like projector headlamps and LED DRLs, seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reversing camera, multi-functional steering, etc.
