The Suzuki iV-4 compact SUV is all set to become reality, with the company announcing its production to commence at its Hungarian plant in early 2015. Yes, the production version of the highly anticipated Suzuki iV-4 will make its debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October. The SUV will go on sale in the Australian market and it will be positioned between Suzuki Jimny and Suzuki Grand Vitara. The company is aiming to launch this product in the growing markets and it might also make its Indian debut as well.
Maruti Suzuki India is also eyeing the popular compact SUV segment in the country and is reportedly working on a sub-4 metre SUV. The company unveiled the XA Alpha compact SUV concept at the 2012 Indian Auto Expo, and the production model is likely to come India by 2015-16. However, nothing concrete has been revealed on its production plans or launch. Meanwhile, Suzuki unveiled the iV-4 SUV concept at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show which will go into production by early 2015. We believe that Maruti could launch the production spec iV-4 SUV in spite of XA Alpha in India.
The Suzuki iV-4 is not a sub-4 metre SUV; however, Maruti Suzuki has the record of launching big products at an affordable pricing. The Ertiga MPV is the best example to understand this as the company managed to keep its pricing under Rs. 6 lakh. So, we expect that Suzuki iV-4 with good pricing would give competitive edge over its competitors like Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Nissan Terrano. Measuring 4.21m in length, 1.85m in width and 1.66m in height, the Suzuki iV-4 is an ideal product to introduce in the Indian car market.
