The Maruti Ignis 2019 facelift has finally been launched in the Indian market. The new model comes with new safety features and new design elements including roof rails. It is available in 4 trim levels – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha – in total of 7 variants in manual and automatic options. The 2019 Ignis is priced at Rs 4.79 lakh for the base variant and Rs 7.14 lakh for the range-topping mode.

First launched in January 2017, the Maruti Ignis is the most affordable Maruti Suzuki cars sold through NEXA premium dealership network. The Ignis was the brand’s first model to be offered with petrol and diesel powertrains in both manual and AMT options. Due to lowering demand for diesel cars, Maruti Suzuki had discontinued the Ignis diesel in June 2018. The Maruti Ignis 2019 is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine that produces 82bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. The 2019 Maruti Ignis gets reverse parking sensor, Co-driver seat belt reminder and high speed alert system as standard.

The 2019 Ignis facelift continues with the existing 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine that also powers the Swift, Baleno, Dzire and the new Wagon R. While powering the Ignis, this powertrain produces 81.8bhp of power at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 113Nm at 4,000rpm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.

The Ignis is currently one of the most fuel efficient small crossovers currently on sale in India. The petrol version is claimed to deliver 20.89kmpl, which is quite impressive.

Maruti Ignis 2019 Exterior

The Ignis facelift continue with the existing design, though there are minimal changes to keep things fresh in the market. Featuring crossover-like styling, the Ignis continues with the retro-styled elements coupled with modern elements. While most of the styling is similar, the hatchback gets new dual-tone paint schemes and roof rail in the high-end variants. It gets prominent grille with chrome enhancement and squared-shaped projector headlamps with LED units and L-shaped daytime running lights.

The side profile continues with the boxy profile and features 15-inch alloy wheels. The crossover comes with blacked-out A and B pillars and thin cladding. The rear profile remains unchanged and features same tail-lights, bumper and black body cladding.

Dimensions

Since changes are cosmetic in nature, the Ignis hasn’t received any upgrades in terms of dimensions. Sits below 4 meters in length, the Maruti Ignis facelift measures 3,700mm in length, 1,600mm in width and 1,595mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,438mm. The small car comes with a ground clearance of 180mm. It offers a boot space of 260-litres, which can be further extended to 425-litres by folding the rear seats.

The Ignis facelift continues to offer the premium interior feel, thanks to good plastic materials and fit and finish. The vehicle is equipped with most of the features available in the previous model. It comes with new Suzuki’s new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system that debuted in the new Wagon R and Baleno facelift. This system is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Feature list includes automatic climate control, height adjustable driver’s seat, reversing camera, keyless entry, slit-folding rear seats, etc.

The new Ignis comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder, speed alert, ISOFIX rear seat anchors, etc as standard safety features. The top-spec model also gets reverse camera.
