Maruti, Hyundai To Launch 6 SUVs This Year – Details

Today, SUVs are the preferred choices of Indian car buyers. The segment has been flourishing at a great pace and in order to tap the opportunities carmakers have planned a range of new models. India’s two largest passenger vehicle manufacturers – Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai has lined-up half a dozen SUVs for this year (2022). Here’re key details of the upcoming Maruti and Hyundai SUVs.  

New-Gen Maruti Brezza

2022 Maruti Vitara Brezza

The second-generation Maruti Brezza is reported to launch in the month of June. The new model will come with improved design, lots of new features and updated powertrain. The 2022 Maruti Brezza will employ a new 1.5L K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine with the new 6-speed torque convertor automatic and 5-speed manual gearbox options. The motor delivers a claimed power of 103bhp and 137Nm of torque. The new Brezza might also be offered with the CNG kit. In terms of features, it’s likely to come with the larger and updated infotainment unit with wireless smartphone connectivity, HUD unit, wireless charging, connected car tech, 6 airbags, EPS, etc. More details here…

Maruti Suzuki is all set to foray into the mid-size SUV segment this Diwali season. The model, which will be co-developed with Toyota, is expected to come with two petrol engines benefited with hybrid tech (both mild and strong). There might be three drive modes – Pure electric, Hybrid and Petrol. The new Maruti SUV will be packed with several advanced goodies including connected car tech, a 360 degree camera, HUD unit, a premium audio system, a touchscreen infotainment unit and a digital instrument cluster. The model is reported to come with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). Design of the new Maruti SUV will be different from the upcoming Toyota mid-size SUV. More details here…

Hyundai Venue Facelift

2022 Hyundai Venue facelift

The updated Hyundai Venue will be the next product launch from the South Korean automaker in India. Its prices are likely to be announced in coming weeks. The new Venue will retain the existing engine setup including 83bhp, 1.2L NA petrol, 118bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol and 113bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel unit. Transmissions will also be carried forward from the current model. Most of the changes will be cosmetic including Hyundai’s new parametric grille, newly-designed headlamps, revised front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels and new tailgate with L-shaped taillamps. Hyundai’s top-selling SUV – Creta – is ready to receive a mid-life update in the second half of this year. The new model will witness noticeable changes inside and out, while things under the hood will remain intact. That means, the new 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift will come with the 113bhp, 1.5L NA petrol, 113bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel and 138bhp, 1.4L turbo petrol engine options. The SUV will feature Hyundai’s new Sensuous Sportiness design language with new parametric grille, updated bumper with slimmer and wider air inlet, new LED taillamps and an updated tailgate. The Hyundai Kona EV facelift is also slated to launch this year. The updated version of the electric SUV will continue to feature the 39.2kWh battery pack with 136bhp electric motor. This time around, the company might also offer the optional larger battery pack. The new 2022 Hyundai Kona EV carries newly-designed headlamps, slightly updated bumpers, wheel arches with body colour finish, new alloy wheels and less body cladding. Its front grille has been removed. The new Kona EV facelift offers features such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, blindspot assistance, updated BlueLink connected car tech, safe exit warning, etc. More details here…

Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV

The South Korean carmaker has confirmed the Ioniq 5 electric crossover from the Indian market. The mode will go on sale in the second half of this year. Based on the E-GMP platform, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be imported via CBU route and serve a niche segment. Official specifications of the India-spec model are yet to be revealed. In global markets, the electric crossover is available with the single motor and dual motor options offering 169gho with 350Nm and 306bhp with 605Nm respectively. There are two battery packs – 72.6kWh and 58kWh – promising range of 481km and 385km respectively. More details here…
