Maruti Grand Vitara Unveiled – Images, Features, Specs, Mileage, Colours

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the all-new mid-size SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker, has finally made its debut in the country. It will be the brand’s flagship SUV that will face challenge from cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. It will also take on Toyota’s upcoming Urban Cruiser Hyryder that’s due for the next month. The new Maruti Grand Vitara will also hit showrooms in August 2022.

Interestingly, Maruti’s Grand Vitara and Toyota’s Hyryder share their platform, powertrains, features, components and design elements. Both models will be the first products to roll out under Suzuki and Toyota partnership. Though, a few cosmetic bits and features differentiate both SUVs.

Maruti Grand Vitara Engine

Talking about design, the new Maruti Vitara SUV carries the brand’s signature ‘Crafted Futurism’ design language. It has a differently designed grille with a single slate and hi-gloss black and dark chrome inserts. The split headlamp setup with LED projectors, three-part LED DRLs and raised bonnet give it an aggressive look.

Some of its styling elements in-line with the global-spec Suzuki Across and new S-Cross SUVs. Its side profile looks exactly similar to the Toyota Hyryder. The Grand Vitara, however, has distinct R17 precision cut alloy wheel design along with the blackened pillars and a floating roof. At the back, the new Maruti SUV features wraparound LED taillamps with two-piece LED light bar running horizontally on either side and tailgate with Suzuki logo. Just below it, there is Grand Vitara badging.

Interior layout and most of its features are similar to the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV. The Maruti Grand Vitara has dual-tone theme with soft-touch materials across the dashboard. While the electric hybrid (strong hybrid) version gets black faux leather with champagne gold accents and matching stitch pattern, the Smart hybrid (mild hybrid) model comes with Bordeaux faux leather with high luminant silver accents. It has a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, voice assist system, premium sound system, wireless charger with LED indicator, in-built next-generation Suzuki Connect with 40+ connected features, a 360 degree camera, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a Head-Up Display (HUD), ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.

On the safety front, the SUV offers 6 airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist, hill descent control, 3-point seatbelts and all disc brakes. Read: Upcoming Maruti YTB SUV Coupe – New Details Out

The new Maruti SUV will be made available with two powertrain options – 1.5L K15C petrol engine with Suzuki’s mild hybrid tech and Toyota’s strong hybrid system. While the mild hybrid version will make power worth 102PS and come with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the strong hybrid variant will deliver a combined power of 116PS with an e-CVT transmission. The latter will also have an electric motor returning 80.2PS with 141Nm.

Maruti Vitara Safety Features

The new Maruti Grand Vitara mild hybrid will come with Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system. The carmaker has confirmed that the Electric hybrid version with e-CVT will promise mileage of 27.97kmpl and Smart Hybrid model will return 21.11 with manual and 20.58kmpl with automatic gearbox. Its AllGrip manual version will deliver fuel efficiency of 19.38kmpl.

The new Maruti Grand Vitara will be offered in 6 monotone and 3 dual-tone colour options. The overall length, width and height stand at 4345mm, 1645mm and 1795mm. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2600mm. The company has also revealed its two exclusive Genuine Nexa accessories them collections, namely, ENIGMAX and ENIGMAX X.
