Maruti Grand Vitara Instrument Console

The digital instrument console teaser reveals a full-colour display in the centre, a fuel gauge on the right and a charge mode indicator on the left side. This cluster will be offered on the electric hybrid version of the SUV, while the mild hybrid version is expected to receive a slightly different unit. The instrument console looks largely identical to the one offered in the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder; however, MSIL has made some changes in terms of colour combinations and display.

The SUV’s all-wheel-drive system will come with the 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine with a mild hybrid system. This engine is capable of producing 101bhp of power and 136.8Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The AllGrip all-wheel-drive system will be offered with the manual gearbox version of the Maruti Grand Vitara. It is the same AWD system that is offered on the global-spec Suzuki Vitara.

The teaser also reveals that the AllGrip all-wheel-drive system will offer 4 driving modes – Auto, Sand, Snow and Lock. In the auto mode, the AWD system intelligently sense terrain and vary torque to the wheels on demand. The front-wheel drive version of the Vitara’s 1.5L petrol will come with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed that the Grand Vitara will come with a panoramic sunroof. It will be the first Maruti Suzuki model in our market to offer panoramic sunroof. The new Maruti Brezza also gets a sunroof, but it is a single pane unit.

The Maruti Grand Vitara will also come with Toyota’s 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with a strong hybrid tech. The petrol engine churns out 91bhp and 122Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a synchronous AC motor that pushes out 79bhp and 141Nm. The maximum usable power and torque stands at 114bhp and 141Nm respectively. It is coupled to an e-CVT gearbox.

The new SUV is designed and developed on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the Brezza and the S-Cross. It will be produced at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant in Karnataka. Suzuki is also expected to export the new Made-in-India Grand Vitara to select international markets. In fact, Suzuki Australia’s local unit has been pushing Suzuki Japan to introduce the Grand Vitara in Australia.
