Maruti Suzuki has finally revealed the long-awaited Grand Vitara SUV in India. The SUV can be booked online or at Nexa showroom at a token amount of Rs 11,000. Prices of the new model will be released in August 2022. The Maruti Grand Vitara will be offered with two engine options with 3 gearbox combinations.
The new Maruti Grand Vitara is now the most fuel-efficient model in its category, all thanks to Toyota’s hybrid electric powertrain. The company has also released the brochure of the new Grand Vitara, which reveals the variant-wise features, dimensions and specifications.
Maruti Grand Vitara Variants
The new Grand Vitara petrol version with smart hybrid system is available in 4 variants – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. On the other hand, the electric hybrid version is available in two trims – Zeta+ and Alpha+.
Maruti Grand Vitara Dimensions & Specs
The new SUV is developed on Suzuki’s Global-C platform that underpins the new-gen S-Cross on sale in global markets. In terms of proportions, the new Grand Vitara is 4,345mm long, 1,795mm wide and 1,645mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,600mm. The 5-seater SUV has a fuel tank of 45-litres capacity.
The new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will be powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 103.6PS at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 136.8Nm at 4,400rpm. The 5-speed manual gearbox version also comes with AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) System, which is Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD unit. It offers 4 driving modes – Auto, Sand, Snow and Lock. In the auto mode, the AWD system intelligently sense terrain and vary torque to the wheels on demand.
The hybrid version gets a Toyota sourced 1.5L 3-cylinder petrol engine that is coupled to a Synchronous AC motor. This Atkinson cycle engine produces 92.45PS at 5,500rpm and 122Nm of torque at 4,400-4,800rpm. The maximum usable power stands at 115.5PS. The AC synchronous motor offers 59kW (79bhp) at 3,995rpm and 141Nm from zero. It is coupled to an e-CVT gearbox.
Grand Vitara Fuel Economy
The new Grand Vitara hybrid is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 27.97kmpl. On the other hand, the 1.5L petrol manual returns 21.11kmpl. The automatic model delivers 20.58kmpl and the manual AWD unit is claimed to offer 19.38kmpl.
Colours
The new Grand Vitara SUV will be offered in 6 monotone and 3 dual-tone colour options. The monotone colour options include Nexa Blue, Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Chestnut Brown (Not Offered In Sigma) and Opulent Red (Delta & Zeta Only). The dual-tone options include Arctic White + Black (Zeta+/Alpha/Alpha+), Splendid Silver + Black (Zeta+/Alpha/Alpha+) and Opulent Red + Black (Zeta+/Alpha/Alpha+).
