Maruti Future S Based Mini SUV To Launch 2019 Festive Season – Report

The Maruti Suzuki Future S concept based mini SUV will be smaller than the Vitara Brezza.

Maruti Suzuki showcased its two triumph cards at the 2018 Auto Expo – the Future S and e-Survivor mini SUV concepts. According to a fresh report, the production version of the Maruti Suzuki Future S might see a release near around 2019 festive season. Measuring sub-4 meter in length, the mini SUV won’t replace any car from Maruti’s Indian production lineup. Prices of the Future S based car are estimated to start from Rs 5 lakh.

Similar to its concept avatar, the Maruti Future S will feature upright stance with crossover-ish design and a high ground clearance. The high bonnet line and high mounted lights, pronounced wheel arches, vertical A-pillar and wide haunches will also be carried over from the concept. With a high seating position, it will offer a great view out over the traffic.

Designed and developed indigenously by Maruti Suzuki’s R&D team, the mini SUV will underpin the brand’s new HEARTECT platform. The new architecture will make it lightweight, stiff and safe. In terms of proportions, the Maruti Future S will be smaller than the Vitara Brezza, thus making it direct rival of the hatchbacks such as Renault Kwid (1000cc).

The overall length and wheelbase of the vehicle will be equivalent to the Maruti Ignis. With compact dimensions, the Maruti Future S will a beneficiary of the tax benefits offered on the sub-4 meter vehicles. Rumor has it that the Future S based mini SUV could be named ‘Maruti Zen’.

At the engine front, the Maruti Future S mini SUV is reported to get a 1.2L K-Series petrol motor that’s good for 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. The Indo-Japanese carmaker might also introduce an electric version of the vehicle. Official details will be revealed near its launch next year.
