Maruti Suzuki Dzire has always been among top-selling compact sedan in India since its launch in 2008. After completing a decade, the vehicle entered its third generation in October last year. Fitting in shoes of its predecessor, the new-generation Dzire outsold all its rivals in the very first month and it didn’t stop there; the compact sedan achieved the fastest 1 lakh sales mark in the Indian market.
Besides this, the Dzire brand became the top-selling car in December, 2018. Maintaining its sales momentum, the compact sedan kept holding the top spot for the next two months (i.e. January – February). This makes it India’s best-selling car for the third consecutive month. In February 2018, the company sold 20,941 units registering a growth of 26% compared to 16,613 units of the same month last year. The second top-selling car of the country is the yet another Maruti product – the Alto. The hatchback clocked a total sales of 19,760 units in February, 2018. Interestingly, the third spot was grabbed by the new-gen Swift that recorded sales of 17,291 units. The response for the new Swift received is quite overwhelming, and proof of it lies in the fact that the hatchback garnered around 1 lakh bookings in less than two months of its arrival in the market.
The Baleno premium hatchback also witnessed a decent sales growth with 15,807 units during February, 2018. Other cars that managed to make place in the top ten ranking vehicles, last month, were Maruti Wagon R (5th), Hyundai Elite i20 (6th), Maruti Vitara Brezza (7th), Hyundai Grand i10 (8th), Hyundai Creta (9th) and Mahindra Bolero (10th).
