Maruti Ciaz to Get A New 1500cc Petrol Engine

New Maruti Ciaz petrol 1500cc

The new 1500cc gasoline mill will come as a replacement to the existing Maruti Ciaz petrol that is powered by a 1.4-litre K-series engine.

In a recent report, we told you about Maruti Suzuki’s plans of launching the 1.5-litre M15 petrol-engined model of the S-Cross sometime later this year. The same engine will also be used for the Maruti Ciaz which currently has a smaller capacity petrol powertrain – 1.4-litre K-series. The new engine will come as a replacement to the existing Maruti Ciaz petrol. And this seems like a logical decision since the Ciaz is a mid-size sedan and a bigger engine will make it more powerful. The current one surely is an under power unit.

Coming to the engine, the 1.5-litre M15 is an all-new engine that will make its debut in India with the S-Cross. Mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox, this engine develops a maximum power output of 100bhp and a peak torque of 133Nm.

For people not in know, the company is also working on the mid-life facelift version of the Ciaz that might be launched sometime in 2017. So we expect the new Maruti Ciaz petrol mill to be introduced on the 2017 model instead of the current model. Having said that, the company hasn’t made an official statement about this yet.

Besides a new engine, the Maruti Ciaz facelift will also receive some cosmetic changes and new features. We expect the vehicle to receive new bumpers, a revised front grille and minor changes at the rear as well. The vehicle might also get some changes in the cabin as well, thus making it more up-market than before.
