The new Maruti Suzuki Ciaz facelift will be the brand’s first petrol hybrid car in the Indian market

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki will soon give a mid-life makeover to its popular mid-sized sedan – Ciaz. The 2018 Ciaz will receive several design changes and new features. Design and styling of the Ciaz facelift is likely to be inspired by the Chinese-spec 2017 Suzuki Alivio, which was unveiled at the Chengdu International Auto Show in August 2017. The sedan will directly rival the Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Here we bring you 5 big changes you can expect in the new Ciaz –

– Exterior Changes

Majority of the changes will be offered on the front fascia of the car. It will get new chrome laden single frame grille with squared shaper upper corners and new front bumper with new gloss black housing for fog lamps and chrome. – Interior Changes

Instead of faux wood trim, the new Ciaz will have gloss black inserts on the dashboard. It continues with the black and beige theme for the dashboard, which gets new SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. – Electric sunroof

Maruti will also add electric sunroof in the Ciaz facelift. The current Ciaz misses out on this feature, while the direct rivals – City and Verna offers this feature.

– New Diesel Engine

The current Ciaz seems underpowered when compared to its direct rivals. It is expected that the sedan could be powered by in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine. The new engine will replace the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre MJD unit. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. Maruti Ciaz Facelift Changes front

– Petrol Hybrid

If reports are to be believed, Ciaz will be be Suzuki’s first petrol-hybrid car in India; it will get SHVS mild-hybrid system. Moreover, the petrol version will get an all-new 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine which will replace the 1.4-litre K-Series unit. This engine is good for 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the sedan will get a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic unit.
