Maruti Suzuki Ciaz

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to launch the much awaited Ciaz mid-sized sedan in the market. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Motor Show as concept, the sedan comes as a replacement for the aging SX4 sedan. The official bookings for the sedan will commence from September 3rd at a token amount of Rs. 21,000; however, dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the car.

Under the hood is the same 91bhp, 1.4-litre K10B petrol motor and a 1.3-litre Fiat sourced multi-jet motor producing 89bhp. The company has tuned these engines to provide better drivability and high performance. The company claimed Ciaz to be the most fuel efficient car in its league. The diesel model is claimed to return an excellent mileage of 26.21kmpl, while the petrol model delivers 20.73kmpl of fuel economy.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz sedan looks modern and appealing than the previous Maruti’s mid-sized sedan- SX4 and Baleno. The trapezoidal grille with chrome inserts at the front is complemented by larger angular shaped projector headlamps. The more carved out bumper has wide air dams and a pair of fog lamps. The side profile looks simple than the contemporaries, but it also gets aerodynamic crease that runs across the length. The rear profile resembles the City sedan with taillights and air scoops integrated into the bumper.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is 4490mm long, 1730mm wide and 1485mm high, and it has a large wheelbase of 2650mm. This numbers make it larger than the segment topper, the City sedan measuring 4440mm in length, 1730mm in width and 1485mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2600mm. The top-of-the line variant is equipped with 16-inch wheels.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle offers upmarket feels which was missing in other Maruti’s. The fit & finish and material quality is pretty good. The dual-tone scheme suits Indian taste and there are silver touches given to AC vents and switch gears. Also on offer is the large touch screen on the centre console of top-end model with controls for infotainment. There are several cubby holes such as cup holders, bottle holders & others. The steering wheel is completely new and features controls for audio and telephony. However, the vehicle also gets features sourced from other Maruti’s including switches. The Ciaz offers an excellent legroom space for both front and rear passengers.

Projector headlamps

Electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators
