At the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki has launched the long-awaited Maruti Suzuki Swift. Besides Swift, the company has showcased the Future S concept, which previews its upcoming compact hatchback. Adding to it, Maruti has displayed the Suzuki e-Survivor electric SUV concept. India’s largest automaker, Maruti has launched the long-awaited new generation Swift hatchback at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The new model comes with host of aesthetic and feature upgrades. It is available in both petrol and diesel guise – priced between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The new generation Swift is based on the 5th generation HEARTECT platform, which is lighter, stiffer and more reliable than the previous model. The model continues to feature the same K12 VVT petrol and DDiS 190 diesel engine, but these engines have been tuned for achieving better performance efficiency. While the petrol version produces 83bhp of power and 115Nm of torque, the oil burner is good for 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the hatchback gets a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual transmission. Mileage numbers stand at 22kmpl and 28.4kmpl for petrol and diesel, respectively.
In terms of proportions, the new Swift is 3,840mm in length, 1,495mm in height and 1,735mm, which makes it 10mm shorter and 30mm taller than the previous model. The wheelbase has been increased by 20mm to 2,450mm, which ensures spacious cabin for 5-adults. Talking about features, the new Swift gets LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, diamond cut alloys, wraparound taillamps, flat bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control, new touchscreen SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity.
For passengers safety and security, the new Swift gets dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) and ISOFIX as standard. The top-end model has reverse parking camera. Read More
