India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki is always known for displaying its future products at the popular Delhi Auto Expo event. At the 2016 event, the Indo-Japanese automaker had showcased the Ignis, Vitara Brezza and special editions of existing models. The next edition of this biennial event is scheduled to commence from February 7, 2018, and carmakers have started their preparations to make it a remarkable one. MSI will showcase a range of new cars at the show, which will be launched in the country by the end of 2019. The company is planning to enter into different segments, especially in the premium car segment. Adding to it, the Indo-Japanese brand will also launch its future small SUV as Future S Concept. New Maruti Swift

The first model in our list of upcoming Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2018 is the highly-awaited new Maruti Suzuki Swift. Already on sale in select international markets, the new Swift will officially launch in India at this event. Instead of Manesar, Maruti will produce the new model at its production facility in Sanand, Gujarat. Based on Suzuki’s new HEARTECT platform, the new model is 100kgs lighter than the outging car. Keeping new Dzire’s fuel efficiency in mind, we believe that the new model will be the most fuel efficient car in its league. This model will continue to be sold through regular Maruti dealerships, named Arena.

Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki is also considering the RS version of this hatchback for the Indian market. This model will be powered by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol engine that is good for 100.5bhp and 150Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki Future S Concept

The Indo-Japanese brand will unveil an all-new concept – Future S – alongside other Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2018. This concept will preview company’s upcoming compact car. We believe that this concept will be the company’s new small hatchback that could replace the Alto or WagonR. This SUV-like small car will rival the likes of Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and Hyundai’s upcoming small car (Santro successor). It will come with an upright stance and a slightly sloping-type roofline that gives it a premium crossover-like styling. Maruti 7-Seater SUV Concept

Maruti Vitara 7 Seater - Maruti Cars At Auto Expo 2018

Buoyed by excellent response for Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki is now planning to launch a 7-seater SUV for Indian market. The seven-seater model will be positioned against the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Hexa. This SUV will be the most exciting product among all Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2018. It is expected to be called Grand Vitara, which will be based on global Suzuki Vitara SUV. This SUV will be sold through Maruti’s premium dealership network – NEXA – alongside S-Cross, Baleno and Ciaz. Maruti will first showcase this product in its pre-production avatar, while the production car is expected to go on sale towards the end of 2018 or early 2019.

The new Maruti 7-seater SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine that also powers the Jeep Compass & upcoming Tata Q501. This engine is capable of producing 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. The company might also use the 1.6L MJD unit that also powers the S-Cross. Next model to join the list of upcoming Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2018 is the new generation Wagon R, which is likely to be launched in 2018. Suzuki had launched the new generation Suzuki Wagon R and Stingray in the Japanese market in early 2017. The India-spec model will have different design and completely new interior. The new hatchback is likely to be based on Suzuki’s new generation platform that also underpins the new Swift. However, the company could also use the Celerio platform to keep its cost down. Maruti Ciaz facelift

The Ciaz facelift with new engines will be another important Maruti car to be showcaseed at Auto Expo 2018. The sedan launch is likely to be placed by mid next year. The updated model will get slightly revised exterior and interior. Besides cosmetic changes, the new Ciaz is expected to get new powertrains. Maruti Ertiga 2018

Launched in 2012, the Ertiga has been one of the best-selling 7-seater MPVs in India. The company is planning to launch the all-new version of the car. In fact, testing of the car has already been commenced in India. The new model will be showcased alongside other Maruti Cars at Auto Expo 2018. Like the new Swift and Dzire, the new Ertiga will be developed on the new Heartect platform. It will be bigger, lighter and safer than the outgoing model.

Additionally, it will be equipped with several high-end tech features including 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, new climate control, push start-stop button with smart key, automatic headlamp with follow me home, etc. Mechanical details are yet to be revealed, but media reports suggest that the MPV will get 1.5-litre petrol or 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol and Suzuki’s new 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Maruti Ertiga Crossover

Interestingly, the Indo-Japanese automaker is also working on a crossover version of the Ertiga MPV, which is codenamed YHB. This model could be unveiled in concept avatar with other Maruti cars at Auto Expo 2018. It will be based on the Suzuki’s new HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Swift and Dzire. In terms of design, the Ertiga Cross will be bigger and more rugged that the regular model. The crossover-MPV is likely to be powered by Suzuki’s in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine along with a 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol.
