Maruti Baleno Gets ISOFIX Mounts As Standard Safety Feature

With the employment of the ISOFIX, the Maruti Baleno becomes complaint to BNVSAP (Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program).

Maruti Baleno, the popular premium hatchback from the Indo-Japanese automaker, now gets ISOFIX mounts as standard safety feature for child occupants. Available across all variants of the hatchback, this new child car seat attachment system reduces the risk of injury in case of an accident. The ISOFIX has metal bar connectors integrated into the seats, which fastens the child seat and tether straps. This system keeps the child strapped-in inside the seat to ensure his/her safety. With the employment of the ISOFIX, the Maruti Baleno becomes complaint to BNVSAP (Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program). Other standard safety features offered on the hatchback include dual airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) and seat belt pre-tensioner and LED DRLs. While reverse parking camera, force limiters and reminder for driver are made available only on the higher variants

As a reminder, the Indo-Japanese carmaker offered ISOFIX mounts as standard safety fitment on the Ciaz in November 2016. The company will also introduce this child safety system on its other models in near future.

Talking about the car, the Maruti Baleno comes with a 1.2-litre K-Series petro and a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine options. The former is good for 83bhp and 115Nm, and the latter one delivers 74bhp with 190Nm. While a 5-speed manual transmission comes as standard, the Delta and Zeta petrol variants are made available with CVT automatic gearbox. Prices of the Baleno start from Rs 5.25 lakh for the entry-level Sigma petrol variant, and go up to Rs 8.35 lakh for top-end Alpha diesel model. Maruti Suzuki will soon introduce the performance version of the Baleno in India. Called the Maruti Baleno RS, this hot hatch will be packed with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 110bhp and 170Nm. The company will also introduce the petrol version of the Vitara Brezza compact SUV with the same powertrain. Meanwhile, the carmaker is gearing to launch the Ignis crossover in India on 13th January, 2017.
