To celebrate the auspicious Onam festival, Maruti Suzuki has launched the Alto 800 Onam Special Edition in the Indian market. With 15 new features, the Alto 800 Onam Special Edition costs Rs. 17,350 extra than the existing regular models. On the auspicious first day of Malayalam month ‘Chingam’, the company delivered over 3,000 cars in various segments, including 1000 units of the Alto variant.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 Onam Special Edition comes with a package of 15 new features, offered as part of the Onam accessories, such as Onam graphics and decal, music system with speakers, reverse parking sensors, designer seat covers, embroidered cushions, power car charger, and more. Features that are carried forward from the regular model include air conditioner with heater, power steering, remote back door opener, digital clock, headlight leveling, engine immobilize, collapsible steering column, front wiper & washer with intermittent, etc.
Though, no mechanical changes have made to the car. Powering the Alto 800 Onam Special Edition is the same 796cc, 0.8-litre petrol engine that does duty to the existing regular models. It delivers a maximum power of 47.3bhp at 6,000rpm and 69Nm of torque at 3,500rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that helps the car to achieve 0-100kmph in 19 seconds. It is claimed to return a fuel economy of 22.74kmpl, and a top speed of 140kmph.
Commenting on the launch, Ram Suresh Akella, Commercial Business Head, Southern Region, Maruti Suzuki, said, “Kerala is an important market for Maruti Suzuki and Alto 800 is the highest selling model for us in the region”. “We are happy to present 15 new features as part of the Onam accessories to the customers at a special price. We are confident that the Onam Limited Edition Alto 800 will delight customers”, he added further.
