New-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto is reported to go on sale during 2019 festive season.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) aims to expand its product portfolio with a range of new models in coming years. The carmaker kick started 2019 with the launch of new-generation WagonR that will be soon followed by the next-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto. Recently, the first spy picture of the new Maruti Alto 2019 (codename – YK1) hit the web revealing minor design details. Reports suggest that the hatchback’s new model will make debut during 2019 festive season.
Cosmetically, the 2019 Maruti Alto will see comprehensive changes inspired by the Maruti Future S concept that broke cover at the Delhi Auto Expo last year. It will carry crossover-ish design bits to rival Renault Kwid that made micro crossover styling popular in small car segment. Besides this, the hatchback will ditch the existing platform for Suzuki’s new, lightweight HEARTECT architecture. This will also aid to its overall performance, fuel efficiency and drivability.
The new Maruti Alto 2019 will also meet the new safety and emission norms. That means, it will get more safety features, new robust platform and powertrains. Reports suggest that the hatchback will get a BS6-ready 800cc and a 1.0L petrol engines along with the LPG and CNG fuel options. Both manual gearbox and AMT (automated manual transmission) will be on offer.

As of now, there is no official announcement about launch timeline of the new-generation Alto. Though, the media reports suggest that the hatchback’s new model will see a release during this year’s festive season (possibly in October, 2019). New Maruti Alto 2019 Price in India
As mentioned above, the 2019 Maruti Alto will have an all-new design inspired by the Future S concept. Besides carrying a crossover-ish stance, the small car will come with a pack of new comfort and safety features. Maruti will also use the new HEARTECT platform to make it lighter, stiffer, safer and more frugal than current model. Engine setup will also be revised to meet the future emission norms. With all these merits, the new Maruti Alto 2019 will give a tough fight to Hyundai Santro and Renault Kwid. The Indo-Japanese carmaker will price the small car competitively. Though, it will surely be slightly more expensive than the current generation that costs between Rs 2.66 lakh – Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Prices of the 2019 Alto are likely to start from Rs 3.25 lakh and go up to Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom).
New Maruti Alto 2019 Specifications
Keeping up with the upcoming BS6 emission norms, Maruti Suzuki will soon make its entire product lineup comply with the new regulations. The carmaker has confirmed that it will roll out BS6-ready vehicles 3-4 months before the April 1, 2020 deadline. The new Maruti Alto 2019 will certainly receive the engine upgrade. Though, its official details are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. If media reports are to be believed, the new-generation Alto could be offered with BS6-ready 800cc and 1.0L petrol engine options. The 2019 Maruti Alto might get dual front airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and speed alert as standard safety equipment.
