The model showcased at the auto event does not have any badges, which suggests that the SUV could carry a new nameplate and possibly the XUV700. To be launched as flagship product, the new Mahindra Rexton will face challenge from the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Powering the Mahindra XUV700 is a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the global-spec SsangYong Rexton. The e-XDi220 engine is capable of producing 178bhp and a peak torque of 420Nm. Power is transmitted to all-4 wheels via a 7-speed torque-converter F-Tronic automatic gearbox. The India-spec Mahindra XUV700 comes with a regular Mahindra-like front fascia with wider chromed grille, LED headlamps and massive bumper with fog lamps. There is black cladding all-around the SUV, which gives it a sporty profile. The model comes with flared wheel arches fitted to 20-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the SUV gets rear-combination side lights, spoiler with high-mounted LED stop light and LED number plate lights. In terms of proportions, the SUV is 4,850mm, 1,960mm and 1,800mm in length, width and height respectively.
