The long-awaited Mahindra XUV700 is scheduled to be launched in the third quarter of 2021, which is July-September. The SUV has been caught numerous times, revealing the design and interior bits. Mahindra has started releasing teaser videos of the new XUV700 7-seater SUV, which suggest that the vehicle could arrive soon.
It is expected that the new Mahindra XUV700 will make global debut in the second half of July 2021. Bookings for the SUV are likely to commence in August, while price announcement could take place in August or September this year. Mahindra will aim to capitalize on the upcoming festive season, Diwali.
The Mahindra XUV700 7-seater SUV will come with several segment first features. It is reportedly to come with segment-first ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Mahindra had joined hands with South Korean Mando company to source ADAS. It will offer features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Park Assist.
New reports claim that the Mahindra XUV700 will be the most powerful SUV in its segment. It will be equipped with a new 2.0-litre, turbocharged mStallion petrol engine, which is expected to produce around 200bhp of power. This is the same engine that powers the new Thar; however, it is de-tuned to produce around 150bhp of power.
The diesel version of the 7-seater SUV will get the 2.0-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine, which will produce around 185bhp of power. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor. The same engine and gearbox options are likely to be offered in the new Scorpio, which is scheduled to be launched in early 2022.
The new Mahindra XUV700 will replace the existing XUV500. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 14 lakh to Rs 22 lakh. The SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. The teaser released by Mahindra reveals that the SUV will come with segment largest sunroof (1,360mm X 870mm), called Skyroof. The SUV will also get ‘Auto Booster Headlamps‘. The teaser reveals that if the Mahindra XUV700 SUV crosses 80km/h while driving at night, it automatically switches on extra lights for better visibility. This clearly improves the overall safety of the car and passengers during night driving.
