Mahindra is on a launching spree of late with the latest one being the Mahindra XUV500 petrol that has gone on sale today i.e. May 12, 2017 at a price of Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The petrol version of the company’s flagship SUV was first launched in Dubai earlier this week, and India is the second market to receive it.
Available in one variant XUV500 G Automatic, the Mahindra XUV500 petrol is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk petrol engine. Mated to a AISIN-sourced 6-speed automatic gearbox, this engine puts out a max power of 140bhp and a max torque of 320Nm. Interestingly, the petrol engine’s name too has been kept mHawk, and its power figures too are identical to the current diesel version.
For people not in the know, the company will soon launch a more powerful version of the XUV500 powered by a retuned mHawk diesel mill that will produce 170bhp and 350Nm. This is the same engine that was recently introduced on the 2018 Mahindra Scorpio facelift.
