The Mahindra XUV500 is a mid-sized premium SUV that helped Mahindra in overcoming its image of budget friendly SUV maker. As it completes its first four years in Indian market, M&M is gearing up for its first facelift version. The new iteration of this SUV comes with a number of cosmetic changes that includes new headlights, bumper, grille, etc. Its technical configurations continue to be the same as of current version. It is expected to reach markets by mid of this year where it will be struggling for market share with Renault Duster, Toyota Innova, Tata Aria, and a few others.


Designing And Styling

Since it is a facelift version, Mahindra has considered only selected zones for upgradation. Most prominent modifications are received by radiator grille, headlights, front bumper, and wheels. While the grille receives fresh paint and new set of lines and chrome finishing. Most noteworthy change is received by headlights with daytime running lamps and Audi inspired LED strips. Front bumpers get a fresh look with L-shaped cluster featuring fog lamps. The side profile gets marked by a new set of 10-spoke alloy wheels while the rear portion collects a new tail door, bigger number plate area, and chrome garnishes.

Engine Specs

New Mahindra XUV500 model will be drawing power from its existing diesel engine that carries capacity to yield 140bhp against 330Nm of torque. This configuration will meld with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Expected Price Range

The new Mahindra XUV500 facelift will be playing a crucial role in maintaining Mahindra’s lead in SUV segment. Being the first major update of this ferocious vehicle, it is being anticipated widely by motor enthusiasts across the nation. It is expected to carry a price range of Rs. 12.50 lakh – Rs. 15 lakh.

Expected Launch Date in India: Anytime in May 2015
