Mahindra XUV500 Gets A Price Hike; Petrol Variants Discontinued
Mahindra & Mahindra has silently hiked prices of the XUV500 SUV ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 8,000. Now, prices of the SUV start at Rs 12.31 lakh for the entry-level W3 diesel variant going up to Rs 18.62 lakh for the top-spec W11 O AWD variant. All prices are ex-showroom, India. Besides this, the carmaker has also discontinued all petrol variants and the range-topping diesel automatic AWD trim from the SUV lineup. Though, Mahindra has not announced the reason of this decision.
Powering the Mahindra XUV500 petrol was a 2.2L engine, paired exclusively with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The gasoline motor pushes out power worth 140bhp against 320Nm of torque. Read – BS6 Mahindra Scorpio Coming Soon
The diesel variants get a 2.2L engine delivering a maximum power of 155bhp and 360Nm of torque. It comes with both a 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Now, the AWD (all-wheel-drive) system is available only with the manual gearbox.
Recently, the new-generation model of the SUV was spotted testing in the country. Based on all-new monocoque platform, the 2020 Mahindra XUV500 will witness comprehensive changes inside and out.
Under the hood, the all-new XUV500 will receive a new and more powerful 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine that will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. Its power output will stand around 180bhp.
