Mahindra & Mahindra has silently launched new automatic variants of its popular Mahindra XUV500 range in Delhi NCR. Available in three grades – W6, W8 and W10 – the Mahindra XUV500 1.99L Automatic is priced at Rs 14.51 lakh, Rs 15.94 lakh and Rs 17.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. As a reminder, the home-grown carmaker had introduced the 1,997cc XUV500 (alongside the Scorpio) for combating ban on the registration of 2000cc and above diesel cars in Delhi NCR.

The new Mahindra XUV500 automatic variant is powered by a 1.99-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which is a downsized version of the 2.2-litre mHawk unit. This power mill is paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, and delivers a maximum power of 140bhp at 3,750rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1,600rpm – 2,800rpm.

Mahindra plans to bring-in some new diesel engines (below 2000cc) under the newly-introduced mFalcon engine family. The smallest mFalcon engines – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2-litre diesel – have already been introduced on the Mahindra KUV100.
The Mahindra XUV500 comes equipped with 7-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, Mahindra Blue Sense App, digital immobilizer, power windows, remote tail gate opening, flip key with remote control locking, follow-me-home headlamps, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP and hill hold and decent control.
