Mahindra XUV400 Production To Start In December – 6 Key Facts

Mahindra XUV400, the first pure electric SUV from the home-grown automaker, is ready to hit roads in January 2023. Official bookings for the model will begin in the first week of January and its prices will be announced towards the end of the month. Now, the company has revealed that the electric SUV will enter into production next month (i.e. December, 2022). Its test drives will also begin in December across select 16 cities. The XUV400 is essentially the electric iteration of the XUV300, but measures slightly longer and have different styling.

Highest Range

The carmaker has confirmed that the XUV400 will come with a 39.5kWh battery pack using state-of-the-art Li-ion cells. It delivers a combined power and torque of 148bhp and 310Nm respectively. Mahindra says that its new electric SUV offers a range of 456km (as per Indian driving cycle – MIDC) on a single charge. It will be the highest EV range in its segment. Fastest Made-in-India EV

Mahindra claims that it will be the fastest accelerating electric SUV in the country. The XUV400 will be capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 8.3 seconds and attain a top speed of 150kmph. Its arch rival – Tata Nexon EV Max accelerates 0 to 100kmph in under 9 seconds and it offers a maximum speed of 140kmph.

Fast Charging

The upcoming Mahindra XUV400 EV can be charged up to 50kW by using a DC fast charger. Its battery pack takes less than 50 minutes to charge up to 80 percent. One can juice-up its battery via a 3.3kW/16A home charger in 13 hours. The carmaker will also provide a home fast charger of 7.2kW/32A that can fully charge it from 0 percent in 6 hours 30 minutes.

High On Safety

Mahindra says that it extensively used High Strength Steel (HSS) for making it crash worth and provide better protection to its battery pack. It also has 30 percent High Strength Stell, 10 percent Ultra-High Strength Steel and 5 percent Advanced High Strength Steel.

EV-Specific Features

The Mahindra XUV400 EV comes with an updated infotainment system with EV-specific data. Its compatible to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with SMS read out and voice command. On the exterior, the electric SUV features a closed-off grille with X-patterned bronze and black design, Mahindra’s new Twin Peaks logo in bronze finish, sleeker rectangular headlamps with DRLs, triangular fog lamps, sharply contoured bumper, side body cladding, silver roof rails, alloy wheels and mounted charging port.

Other Highlights

The upcoming new Mahindra electric SUV measures 4.2 meters in length and has a wheelbase of 2600mm. It’s 1821mm wide and 1634mm tall. The XUV400 offers a boot space of 378-litres/418-litres (up to roof). It can be had in 5 colour options – Arctic Blue, Galaxy Grey, Everest White, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue with dual-tone roof option in Satin Copper finish.
