XUV300 TurboSport, a new super-sporty SUV from Mahindra, has heated up the sub-4-meter segment again. With sportier styling elements and a more powerful turbocharged petrol engine, it is aimed at enthusiasts, placing it against the likes of Hyundai Venue N-Line. The sporty versions of both the XUV300 and Venue are similar to their regular models in terms of dimensions. Both SUVs have the same length; however, the larger wheelbase and width of the XUV300 help in more space inside the cabin. But on the downside, the cargo space has been compromised.

Thanks to the bigger displacement, the Mahindra XUV300 TurboSport offers better engine output than the Venue N-Line, making it India’s most powerful compact SUV. It also gets an over-boost function which kicks in at certain RPMs, giving it an extra dose of 20Nm. However, it is worth noting that the XUV300 only comes with the 6-speed manual gearbox, whereas the Venue N-Line gets a 7-speed DCT; both are highly loved by performance fanatics. The Korean SUV also gets a ‘manual’ mode, along with paddle shifters that give you the liberty to take control in your hand.
Other performance upgrades
Unlike Mahindra, Hyundai does have a sportier exhaust note. Its suspensions have also been tuned for 34 percent more damping force, improving stability and giving you more confidence around the corners. The N Line also benefits from rear disc brakes, which are already standard in the XUV300.

Both the SUVs are well equipped, but the Venue N Line has more comfort & convenience features that will benefit you in day-to-day life. On the contrary, the XUV300 gets the segment’s first dual-zone climate control and steering modes. Also, it brags a 5-star crash test rating from Global NCAP, while the Venue hasn’t been tested yet.

Thanks to the broader variant lineup, the entry price point of the Mahindra XUV300 TurboSport is lower than the Hyundai Venue N-Line. Its range-topping W8 valiant is also Rs 40,000 more affordable than the N-Line.
Verdict
With its outright engine output and lower price range, the XUV300 TurboSportz offers better value. However, its quirky exterior, old-school dashboard design and lack of convenience features in comparison to the Venue N Line might leave you a bit disappointed.
