The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is working on multiple new EVs for the Indian market. The company will showcase 3 new electric SUV concepts in July. These models will be based on Mahindra’s new born electric platform. Moreover, Mahindra is also testing the new XUV300 EV and the eKUV100.
A new media report claims that the Mahindra XUV300 electric will be launched in early 2023. The eKUV100 is in the final stage of development and testing and will be in the market before the end of 2022.
It is expected that the new eKUV100 could be relaunched as e20, as the previous KUV100 hasn’t seen much success. The new model will have higher range and bigger battery pack. The report suggests that the vehicle could offer higher range of atleast 250km and affordable pricing. Mahindra could aim to introduce the new eKUV100 as the most affordable electric car under Rs 10 lakh.
Mahindra is witnessing a positive response for its passenger vehicles and the commercial segment of three wheelers and smaller LCVs with products Treo & the eAlfa. Tata Motors has already launched the Nexon EV and the Tigor EV in the passenger vehicle segment. Both models have received positive response and has helped Tata to secure over 70 % market share.
Mahindra has recently announced a fresh capital investment of Rs 3,000 crore to capitalize on opportunities in Last Mile Mobility & the launch of SUV EV platforms. The born electric vehicles will be in market in the next 3-5 years.
