Mahindra had showcased the eKUV100 and the eXUV300 electric SUVs at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new Mahindra XUV300 EV is reportedly to be launched in the country by 2022. The report claims that Mahindra will soon implement its EV plans for passenger vehicle segment in India.
While the homegrown UV maker’s will have SUVs at its core, it will aim to penetrate the EV segment of the PVs with the new eKUV100 and eXUV300. It is reported that Mahindra electric is aiming to grab 30 to 50 per cent readiness in the EV space between 2025 and 2030. The company is currently selling the e-Verito in the EV brand.
The Mahindra eXUV300 will directly rival the country’s best-selling Tata Nexon EV. Previous reports claim that the XUV300 electric will have a range of 375km on single charge. It will be offered in two variants with standard variant offering a range of around 200km. The XUV300 Electric is built on the MESMA 350 (Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture 350). The in-house developed 350-volt powertrain supports a wide range of electric motors ranging from 60 kW to 280 kW output, dual motor setups and batteries up to 80 kWh capacities. Mahindra could also introduce a performance oriented variant of the electric car.
The Mahindra eKUV100 is expected to be the most affordable electric SUV in the country. It will be powered by a 40kW electric motor that produces 53bhp of power and 120Nm of torque. The mini SUV has a 15.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that will offer a range of 120km on a full charge. Mahindra will offer the vehicle with both standard and fast-charging options.
