The BS6 compliant Mahindra XUV300 is expected to be launched in the end of 20019

Homegrown automaker, Mahindra has started testing the BS6 compliant XUV300. The model has been spotted testing with a BS6 decal on the fuel lid, though it is yet to be confirmed whether Mahindra is testing the petrol or diesel version of the XUV300. The BS6 Mahindra XUV300 was spotted testing on the Chennai-Tindivanam Highway. It is the same stretch where the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio was also seen for the first time during its test rounds.

The report claims that the spotted model was equipped with a diesel powertrain. The Mahindra XUV300 is available with 2 engine options – a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. The 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine will be upgraded to BSVI emission norms. In the current form, it is capable of producing 110bhp of power at 5,000rpm and 200Nm of torque between 2,000-3,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The diesel engine is basically the detuned version of the Mahindra Marazzo‘s engine. The BSIV compliant 4-cylinder engine is capable of producing 115bhp of power at 3,750rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1,500-2,500rpm. This is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Mahindra will soon introduce the AMT version of the compact SUV. It is expected that the AMT gearbox will be offered with petrol and diesel engine options. We believe that the company will launch the BS6 compliant XUV300 in both manual and AMT gearbox options.

The Mahindra XUV300 is currently available in the price bracket of Rs 7.90 lakh and Rs 11.99 lakh. It is expected that the prices of the BSVI diesel model will significantly increase, though the petrol version is likely to receive minimal price hike. The Mahindra XUV300 is one of the most feature-loaded SUVs in its category. Based on the SsangYong’s X100 platform, the sub-4 meter SUV comes equipped with features like projector headlamps with LED DRLs, diamond-cut alloys, electric sunroof, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, etc. The SUV also gets 7 airbags, all-4 disc brakes, ESP with Roll-over mitigation, ABS with EBD, etc.
