To be slotted between Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova, the upcoming Mahindra U321 MPV is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh – Rs 15 lakh

Homegrown UV maker, Mahindra will launch 3 all-new products – a 7-seater premium SUV Based on Rexton, a sub-4 meter SUV codenamed S201 and an all-new MPV – codenamed U321. The Mahindra U321 MPV will go on sale during festive season, Diwali 2018. This MPV will come as a replacement for the ageing Xylo.

Mahindra is aiming at aggressive pricing for this MPV. It is likely to be positioned right between the new Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta in terms of pricing. The MPV is expected to be priced around Rs 10 – Rs 15 lakh, which makes it a direct rival to Honda BR-V and Renault Lodgy.

The U321 MPV has already been spotted testing several times on Indian roads. AutoCarIndia has released a new rendering of the MPV, revealing possible design for this MPV. The Mahindra U321 MPV will have a cab-forward design, which allows the maker to create more space inside the cabin. Based on the ladder-on-frame chassis, the new model will sport a low floor. In terms of styling, the MPV will get Mahindra’s signature toothed grille, slim wrap-around headlamps with LED DRLs, newly styled tail-lights with LED inserts, roof rails and fairly plain side profile. The top-spec U321 MPV will feature a dual-tone (Black and Beige) interior theme. The instrument cluster will come with two circular dials and coloured back lit, along with a large digital MID. The model will get a touchscreen infotainment system, a push button start and steering mounted controls. However, these features won’t be offered in the entry-level model.

The Mahindra U321 MPV will be powered by a newly developed 1.6-litre diesel engine. This turbo-charged, four-cylinder diesel engine is likely to produce around 130bhp of power. For transmission duties, the MPV could get a six-speed manual gearbox. Adding to it, the MPV could also get a newly developed 1.5-litre petrol engine.
