Mahindra and Mahindra recently announced the official name its new MPV – the Mahindra Marazzo. At the pre-launch event, Pawan Goenka , Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, has also confirmed that the company will launch its first electric SUV in India during 2019-2020. Though, he didn’t reveal the name of the vehicle.
We believe that the home-grown carmaker might bring in the electric version of the KUV100 hatchback that made its public debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. The carmaker will also launch the Mahindra Aero Coupe Electric SUV sometime in 2020. Besides this, Mahindra’s popular SUVs – the XUV500 and the Scorpio – will also get the electric powertrain in coming years.

The company confirmed that the Mahindra KUV100 Electric will share its powertrain with Mahindra e20 Plus – i.e. 48cc unit with 210AH lithium ion battery. This motor makes 25.4bhp at 3,500rpm and 70Nm at 1,050rpm. The Mahindra Aero Coupe SUV, on the other hand, is reported to come with an electric motor offering a range of 350km and a maximum speed of 186kmph. Though, this electric powertrain is currently under development.
M&M’s electric subsidiary, Mahindra Electric is currently offering two electric cars – the e2O Plus hatchback and the e-Verito sedan. The home-grown carmaker will also develop a new electric vehicle with Ford that will be retailed in emerging markets including India. Just so you know, Ford Motor Company and Mahindra & Mahindra joined hands for developing two all-new SUVs and an electric vehicle along with working on connected solutions.
