Mahindra Thar has always been favorite off-roader among enthusiasts. We have seen number of customized version of the SUV including the Thar Daybreak Edition that was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo and the Thar Wanderlust Edition that broke cover at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. While the former entered production in late 2016, Mahindra has been quick with the latter one. Now, the Mahindra Thar Wanderlust Edition is available for sale in the country. Mahindra Thar Wanderlust Price In India
Mahindra’s customization division in Mumbai will customize your Thar CRDe and turn it into the Wanderlust edition. The entire customization will take three to six months, costing you Rs 13.80 lakh (excluding taxes).
Mahindra Thar Wanderlust Exterior
The Wanderlust is essentially a highly accessorized version of the Thar SUV. Visually, the modified model looks more masculine and sportier than the regular Thar. Upfront of the SUV has aggressive appeal – thanks to its new projector headlamps with corona ring daytime running lights (DRLs), new off-spec bumper with two hooks and a powered winch. The pronounced bonnet has a big air scoop with snorkel and guide lights at the top of the windscreen. The modified Thar Wanderlust comes fitted with steel wheels with a negative offset and large 33-inch tyres. What further accentuate its side profile are the contrasting roof rails, top-mounted wing mirrors and gullwing-style doors. Round the back, the SUV gets twin exhausts, new taillamps and narrow opening for fitting in two jerry cans.
Mahindra Thar Wanderlust Interior
Inside, the modified Thar features beige colour theme with leather cladding for the steering wheel and door panles. It also gets two leather-clad racing seats from Sparco along with five-point safety belts. The SUV offers a Pioneer touchscreen touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and a display for the reverse parking camera and an electronic sunroof. Mahindra Thar Wanderlust Specifications
Engine mechanism of the Thar Wanderlust remains unchanged. Similar to the regular Thar, the SUV is propelled by a 2.5-litre CRDe turbo diesel engine that pushes out a peak power of 63bhp at 3,200rpm and 182.5Nm of torque between 1,500rpm – 1,800rpm. Transmission on offer is a 5-speed manual unit, supported by 2WD (two-wheel-drive) and 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. It gets transfer case with low and high ratios and a mechanical locking differential at the front and rear axles respectively.
