Mahindra, the leading utility vehicle maker has plans of launching a series of new SUVs and facelifts of existing SUVs this year. We informed you that the company will launch the S101/S102 mini SUV and U301 Bolero this year. Adding to it, the maker will also introduce the facelifted XUV500 and Scorpio Automatic. Interestingly, the homegrown automaker is also preparing the Thar facelift, which has been spotted testing in Satpur, Nashik.
The spotted vehicle features no number plates, but a plate was positioned on the dash with an “On Test” signage. The facelifted model looks largely similar to the current model, indicating that the company will continue to offer the same ruggedness to consumers. It seems like the company is aiming to improve the quality and mechanics of the car. The SUV was partially camouflaged, while the dashboard was completely covered.
It is expected that the updated Thar will get additional features and improved interior quality to offer comfortable drive. The company is also likely to offer a hard-top variant. The current model is offered with two engine options- a 2.5-litre CRDe rated at 105bhp and 247Nm of torque and 2.5-litre Di unit that is good for 63bhp and 182.5Nm of torque. The base model is available in 2-WD option, while the top-end models come with 4-wheel drive option.
