Mahindra Thar Signature Edition Leaked

Only 700 units of the Mahindra Thar 700 Signature limited edition model will be on sale.

Mahindra will soon stop producing the current-gen Thar lifestyle SUV. In order to mark the end of production of the current model, Mahindra will launch a limited-run Thar Signature Edition. The company has already started working on the next-gen Thar, which has been spotted multiple times on Indian roads. The next-gen lifestyle SUV will officially go on sale in India in early 2020.

Ahead of the launch, images and details of the Mahindra Thar Signature Edition have been leaked on the internet. Only 700 units of the limited edition model will be on sale. It will be offered in 2 exterior paint jobs – Napoli Black and Aqua Marine. The Mahindr Thar Signature edition will ride on five-spoke, 15-inch alloy wheels, which seem identical to the previous Scorpio and the Marksman.

The Signature Edition will receive new graphics on the bonnet lid and silver finish on the front bumper. ‘Signature Edition’ badge with the signature of Anand Mahindra, Chariman, Mahindra Group has been embossed on the fenders. Inside the cabin, the new limited model will come with leatherette covers for the seats.

The Mahindra Thar Signature Edition will be powered by a 2.5-litre CRDe diesel engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Bookings for thee SUV is expected to commence soon. This edition will be equipped with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). The current model is not compatible with the upcoming crash test norms and the Thar Signature Edition will be on sale till September 2019. The next-generation Mahindra Thar is expected to make its debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. It will be powered by a newly developed 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that is likely to produce around 140bhp of power. The petrol version will join the lineup on a later stage. The next-gen Thar will be based on the updated GEN3 platform that also underpins the current Scorpio and the TUV300.
