Mahindra Ssangyong Tivoli Electric Confirmed; Launch & Other Details

Mahindra Ssangyong Tivoli India unveiling

The Mahindra Ssangyong Tivoli electric SUV will go on sale in the Indian market in 2019.

It is a well-known fact that Mahindra is working on a range of electric cars for the Indian market. Speaking to media, Mahindra Electric CEO, Mahesh Babu said that Mahindra will launch 3 new electric cars in India by 2020. The first model to go on sale will be the KUV100 electric, which will be launched in the country by the end of 2018. The second model will be the SsangYong Tivoli based electric SUV, which is expected to be launched in 2019. The Mahindra SsangYong Tivoli Electric is likely to make its global debut by the end of 2018 or early 2019.

As a reminder, Mahindra had showcased the SsangYong Tivoli compact SUV at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. In fact, the SUV has been spotted several times during its test rounds on Indian roads; however, it won’t go on sale in India in diesel or petrol avatar. Instead, Mahindra plans to launch S201 compact SUV which is developed on the Tivoli platform in India. Keeping government push for electric cars in mind, the homegrown automaker is now planning to launch the Tivoli with electric drivetrain. As a reminder, the Mahindra Ssangyong Tivoli is the first product produced by the Korean carmaker after Mahindra & Mahindra acquired the company. The compact SUV shares its design cues with the X1V-Air and XIV-Adventure concepts, which were put up on display at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
