Mahindra Scorpio Gets More Affordable With A New Base Variant

Mahindra & Mahindra has further expanded the Scorpio SUV model lineup with addition of a new entry-level S3+ variant. The new Mahindra Scorpio S3+ variant has been priced at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), thus making it Rs 69,000 more affordable than the previous entry-level S5 trim. Now, the SUV comes in five trims – S3+, S5, S7, S9 and S11 – priced at Rs 11.99 lakh, Rs 12.68 lakh, Rs 14.74 lakh, Rs 15.37 lakh and Rs 16.53 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom. The new Mahindra Scorpio S3+ variant has been offered with three seating configurations (7,8 and 9) and a 2.2L diesel engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The oil burner has been detuned for producing power worth 120bhp at 4,000rpm and 280Nm of torque between 1,800rpm-2,800rpm. On the feature front, the new Mahindra Scorpio S3+ misses out on side and rear footsteps, rear demister, auto door lock, one-touch lane indicator, central locking, bottle and cup holder and central lamp. It has unpainted bumpers, ORVMs, side cladding and outside door handles.

The new base variant has been packed with features such as black grille inserts, 17-inch steel wheels with wheel caps, tilt-adjust steering, fabric upholstery, HVAV, power outlets in the first and second rows, rear parking sensors, side intrusion beams, dual airbags and ABS. Talking about the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio, the model will receive new and more powerful 158bhp, 2.2L turbo diesel and 152bhp, 2.0L turbo petrol engines. Noticeable changes will be made to its exterior and interior. Based on new ZEN3 platform, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio is reported to carry a new ‘ScoprioN’ nameplate and the brand’s new logo.
