Mahindra Scorpio-N Vs Thar Vs XUV700 – Specifications

Mahindra has launched the new generation Scorpio N at a starting price of Rs 11.99 lakh. The company will announce the prices of automatic and AWD variants on July 21, 2022. Bookings for the new Scorpio-N will commence from July 30, while test drives for customers has already been started across India. The new model will be sold alongside the existing Scorpio, which will be called the Scorpio Classic.

The new Mahindra Scorpio N is based on the ladder-on-frame chassis that underpins the new Thar. Not just platform, the new Scorpio shares the engine and gearbox options with the XUV700 and the Thar. However, all three models offer different power and torque output.

The new Scorpio N is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, mStallion turbo petrol engine that also powers the Thar and the XUV700. While powering the Scorpio N, the 2.0L petrol engine produces 197bhp of power at 370Nm (380Nm with AT). This variant comes with RWD drivetrain.

The Mahindra Thar is also powered by the same 2.0L mStallion turbo engine, which is tuned to offer lower power and torque. This engine produces 150bhp at 5,000rpm and 320Nm at 1500rpm. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are on offer.

While powering the Mahindra XUV700, the 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol engine offers 197bhp at 5,000rpm and 380Nm between 1,750-3000rpm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

All three SUVs are powered by the same 2.0-litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox. This engine is tuned to offer different power and torque outputs for different vehicles. With XUV700, the 2.2L turbo diesel offers two states of tunes – 153bhp and 360Nm, and 182bhp and 420Nm with MT & 450Nm with AT. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

Mahindra XUV700 Waiting Period

The new Scorpio N also gets the same engine, which offers two states of tunes. With lower variants, the 2.2L turbo diesel engine produces 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The top-end RWD and 4WD variants get the same powertrain, which is tuned to offer 172.6bhp and 370Nm of torque with manual gearbox. With 6-speed AT, the torque output increases to 400Nm.

The Mahindra Thar’s 2.2L mHawk turbo-diesel engine produces 130bhp of power at 3,750rpm and 300Nm of torque at 1,600rpm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
