The third-generation Mahindra Scorpio will go on sale on 27th June as – Scorpio-N. The current-generation model will be sold alongside the new one and it will be rebadged as Mahindra Scorpio Classic. The SUV will receive a few cosmetic and feature updates along with the Thar’s new 2.2L diesel engine. According to a fresh media report, the Scorpio Classic model lineup will be offered in two variants – S3+ and S11. That means, the existing S5, S7 and S9 trims will be discontinued. Both 7 and 9-seats configurations are likely to be on offer.
A latest spy images reveals that the Mahindra Scorpio Classic will come in a new Red colour scheme. At present, it’s available in two exterior paint jobs – Black and White. The SUV features a newly-designed grille with the brand’s new logo as we have seen on the upcoming Scorpio-N. The front and rear bumpers have also been updated. While the side cladding remains unchanged, it gets newly-designed alloy wheels that appear similar to the Alturas G4.
Minimal changes are expected inside the cabin. The Scorpio Classic is likely to come with the same 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, automatic projector headlamps, automatic AC unit, rain sensing wipers, cruiser control, dual airbags and rear parking camera. As mentioned above, the SUV will come with the 2.2L, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel motor sourced from the Thar off-road SUV. The oil burner delivers a claimed power of 132bhp and 300Nm of torque. The Mahindra Scorpio Classic will be offered with the RWD (rear-wheel-drive) drivetrain system only.
In terms of pricing, the Scorpio Classic is expected to be less expensive than the existing one that costs between Rs 13.53 lakh – Rs 18.61 lakh. It’s likely to be priced from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).
