Mahindra S201 (XUV300) Compact SUV Name Announcement Date Postponed

M&M confirmed that the new date for the name announcement event will be announced shortly.

Mahindra & Mahindra has postponed the name reveal date of its upcoming Mahindra S201 (XUV300) compact SUV. Earlier, the name reveal press conference was scheduled to happen tomorrow – i.e. December, 2018. The carmaker has also confirmed that the new date for the name announcement event will be announced shortly.

The official statement reads, “Due to unavoidable circumstances, the press conference scheduled tomorrow, Saturday, Dec 1, 2018, to reveal the name of Mahindra’s upcoming SUV codenamed S201, has been postponed. A new date for the name announcement press conference will be announced shortly. The Mahindra S201 (XUV300) is the SsangYong Tivoli based compact SUV that will go up against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. While the official name and details of the vehicle are yet to be revealed by the carmaker, it is reported to be loaded with several segment-first features including a sunroof and seven airbags as standard safety fitment. The new compact SUV from the home-grown carmaker is likely to feature projector headlamps with DRLs, roof rails, a raked windshield at the rear, high mounted stop lamp and reflectors and LED tail lamps. Inside, the Mahindra S201 (XUV300) might get a touchscreen infotainment system, premium seat upholstery, automatic climate control, dual airbags, reverse parking sensors and camera and ABS with EBD. For power, the new Mahindra S201 (XUV300) is likely to use a 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel engine that also does duty to the Marazzo MPV. Paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the oil burner delivers a top power of 123PS at 3,500rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1,750rpm-2,500rpm. Mahindra might also offer a new 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine on the SUV carline.
