Mahindra S201 SUV To Get Sunroof; Maruti Vitara Brezza Challenger

Codenamed S201, the new Mahindra small SUV will rival the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.

In order to regain pole position in the UV segment, Mahindra will launch 3 all-new products including a sub-4 meter SUV, a premium MPV and a 7-seater SUV based on SsangYong Rexton. The sub-4 meter SUV will be the brand’s first model to be based on SsangYong’s X100 platform. Codenamed S201, the small SUV will rival the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. It is expected that the new SUV will follow the XUV nomenclature and could be called the Mahindra XUV300.

Not just 5-seater model, Mahindra is also working on a 7-seater derivative of the S201. This model will be positioned against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. In order to get upper hand against the competition, Mahindra will load this small SUV will segment leading features. What’s more interesting is that the Mahindra S201 will come with sunroof option. While most of the cars in its category gets sunroof from aftermarket, the S201 compact SUV will come with stock sunroof. Besides sunroof, the Mahindra XUV300 will be equipped with several high-end features like LED headlamps with daytime running lights, LED tail-lights, leather seats, push-button engine start/keyless entry, 7-airbags and a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity. The Mahindra S201 compact SUV is expected to be the most powerful SUV in its category. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces close to 113bhp of power. The small SUV will also get a petrol option, which will be powered by a newly developed 1.2-litre engine. This engine will reportedly have a power output of around 140bhp, which will make it the most powerful in its category.
