SsangYong Motor Company revealed its global sales figures of July 2018. The company registered sales growth of 12.3 percent with exports of Rexton Sports (Musso) globally and the Rexton (G4 Rexton) to India via CKD route. In India, the SsangYong G4 Rexton SUV will be rebadged as Mahindra Rexton that might go on sale during 2018 festive season (i.e. around Diwali).
The all-new Rexton will be Mahindra’s flagship model that will be stacked up against the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. Speculations suggest that the new Mahindra seven-seater SUV will come in the price range of Rs 25 lakh – Rs 30 lakh. If launched at price point, it will undercut its arch rivals. Under the hood, the Mahindra Rexton SUV will house a 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine with Mercedes-Benz sourced 7-speed torque-converter E-Tronic automatic transmission. The power and torque output of the motor will stand at 187 and 420m respectively. The SUV will come with both four-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive options. Sporting bold and aggressive stance, the Mahindra Rexton will surely appeal its target buyers. Some of its design bits include HID headlamps, LED DRLs (daytime running lights), LED fog lamps, sloping roofline, 20-inch alloys, LED rear combination side lights and high-mounted LED stop light. Besides the Mahindra Rexton, the home-grown carmaker will soon introduce the Marazzo MPV with a new 1.5-litre diesel engine. Aiming to tap the premium compact SUV space, the company will launch the S201 (codename) early next year. Reports suggest that the upcoming Mahindra S201 SUV will be named ‘Mahindra XUV300’.
