It is no secret that Mahindra is gradually adding petrol engines to its entire line-up. The company has already announced that its entire range will come with petrol and diesel engine options. It seems like the Marazzo will be the next Mahindra to feature the petrol engine option, as the MPV with ‘AutoShift’ badge has been spotted testing.
The Mahindra Marazzo will be the brand’s first model to feature the new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which debuted at the 2020 Auto Expo. This engine also powers the global-spec SsangYong Rexton SUV. It is capable of producing an impressive 161bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
Mahindra mStallion Engine Range
For people not in the know, Mahindra had showcased its new mStallion petrol engine range at the 2020 Auto Expo. This engine range uses TGDI technology (Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection), which is more advanced than the MPFI engine. The lineup comprises of 3 engines – a 1.2-litre, 1.5-litre and a 2.0-litre petrol.
The 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine is capable of producing up to 130bhp and 230Nm of torque. This engine will also power the Ford EcoSport. The 1.5L engine produces up to 161bhp and 280Nm of torque. This engine will also power the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 mid-sized SUV. The 2.0-litre petrol engine will offer multiple states of tunes. While powering the Thar, it offers 150bhp and 320Nm of torque. This engine can produce 190bhp and 380Nm of torque.
Marazzo Diesel
The MPV is currently available in the single diesel engine option. It is powered by a BSVI compliant 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 121bhp of power at 3,500rpm and a peak torque of 300Nm between 1,750-2,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. In terms of proportions, the BS6 Mahindra Marazzo is 4,585mm in length, 1,866mm in width and 1,774mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,760mm.
