India’s leading UV maker, Mahindra is aiming to regain top-spot in the utility vehicle segment by introducing 3 all-new products before March 2019. The first model to go on sale is a new 7-seater Mahindra Marazzo MPV, which will be followed by XUV700 premium SUV and a sub-4 meter SUV – codenamed S201. The Marazzo will be brand’s all-new premium MPV that will come as a replacement for the ageing Xylo MPV.
The Mahindra Marazzo 7-seater MPV will be developed on an all-new platform, which will be used to develop future luxury cars. This model is expected to be priced somewhere between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, which is exactly between the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta. While the entry-level variant will take on the top-spec Ertiga, the top-spec model will challenge the Innova Crysta.

The new Mahindra premium MPV is claimed to have the largest foot-print from the homegrown portfolio, which hinted a spacious cabin. It will come with two seating layouts – 7 and 8-seater. The former will come with captain seats for second row passengers. This premium MPV has been developed by an engineering collaboration between Mahindra Research Valley Chennai and Mahindra North American Technical Centre. The new Mahindra Marazzo previews the brand’s all-new design language. The company claims that the design of the MPV is inspired from a Shark. Some of the design highlights include shark-teeth like grille, LED daytime running lights, striking tail-lamps inspired from the tail of a shark and a shark-fin inspired antenna.
The Marazzo 7-seater premium MPV features all-new cabin, sporting a new dashboard design with clean panels. It is equipped with a large instrument cluster with a large multi-information display that has blue backlighting and a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Other features include rear parking camera, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, and industry-first automatic climate control unit with surround AC vents for the rear. The new Marazzo will also mark the debut of the brand’s all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine. The company hasn’t revealed the specs of this engine, but it is likely to produce around 121bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Transmission on offer will be a 6-speed manual unit.
