In a bid to improve its market share, Mahindra two-wheelers is planning to bring in a bunch of new motorcycles in India. One of those products will be a budget commuter – the Arro – which has recently been caught testing in India. The Mahindra Arro is a naked bike, which is already on sale in Uganda. For the Indian market, it will be positioned below the Centuro and Pantero. Though, it will share platform, design and engine with the aforementioned bikes.

Design & Styling
As we mentioned above, the design of the budget-commuter will be inspired from the Centuro and Pantero. Though, the features that will distinguish it from the twin sibling will be the single front headlight with chrome finishing, black plastic cladding on the fuel tank, flamboyant gadgets, LED tail lamps and pass light switch. It will also get a functional analog instrument console and turn indicators with orange finish.

Engine Specs and Transmission
The all-new Arro will be powered with a 106.7cc, MCi-5-single-cylinder engine that also does duty on the Centuro and Pantero. This engine churns out a maximum power of 8.6bhp, while yielding a peak torque of 8.5Nm. Power will be transmitted to wheels via a 4-speed all-up shift pattern transmission. Unlike the twin siblings, the Arro will devoid of an electric start system.

Mileage
Most bikes in this segment are quite fuel efficient, so the company might detune the engine for better fuel efficiency to withstand competition. So considering the segment standard, we expect it to return at least 80kmpl.

Price in India
In Uganda, the Mahindra Arro is priced at UGX 29, 90, 000 (i.e. Rs. 69, 879). Though, the India-bound model is expected to be priced more aggressively. Set to rival against the Honda Dream Neo, Bajaj Platina ES and Hero CD Dawn/Deluxe, the Arro is expected to be offered under Rs. 40, 000.

Expected launch
There is no clarity when the bike will go on sale in India, though we expect it to hit showrooms by the end of this year.
