Mahindra Alturas (Y400) SUV To Launch On 26th November?

The new Mahindra 7-seater SUV is reported to be named ‘Mahindra Alturas’.

Mahindra & Mahindra confirmed that it will launch the Y400 (codename) 7-seater SUV on 19th November, 2018. According to a fresh media report, the new Mahindra SUV will be named ‘Mahindra Alturas’ and it will go on sale on November 26, 2018. The name ‘Alturas’ stands for ‘heights’. One must note that there is no official word on the same.

In the company’s product portfolio, the Mahindra Alturas will be positioned above the XUV500, and take on the big guns like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. It will be Mahindra’s flagship product that will come as a replacement to the ageing SsangYong Rexton in India. Powering the Mahindra Alturas is a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine pushing out a peak power of 180.5hp and 450Nm of torque. Interestingly, the SUV lineup will be made available with a Mercedes-sourced 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting. It will sit on a ground clearance of 244mm and has a turning radius of 5.5m. That means, the Alturas will be sit higher than the Fortuner (215) and Endeavour (210mm). The overall length and width of the Mahindra Alturas will be more than the Fortuner. While the former is 4850mm long and 1920mm wide, the latter measures 4795mm in length and 1855mm in width. Built on the body-on-frame platform, the Mahindra Alturas will be loaded with several comfort goodies including a large touchscreen system, sunroof, automatic climate control, ventilated seats with memory function, Napa leather upholstery, electronic parking brake, etc.
