The Mahindra Alturas G4 comes in two variants – G4 2WD and G4 4WD.
The long wait for the Mahindra Alturas G4 is finally over, as the home-grown carmaker has launched its new 7-seater premium SUV in the Indian market. Available in two variants – G4 2WD and G4 4WD, the Alturas has been priced at Rs 26.95 lakh and Rs 29.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. With such competitive pricing, Mahindra’s new SUV will directly compete with the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour.
Both variants of the Mahindra Alturas G4 make use of a 2.2-litre diesel engine generating 178bhp at 4,000rpm and 420Nm of torque between 16,00rpm – 2,600rpm. This Euro-6-ready oil burner comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission available with both 2WD (two-wheel-drive) and 4WD (four-wheel-drive) options. Mahindra Alturas G4 is essentially the fourth-generation Ssangyong Rexton with Mahindra’s badging. Featuring bold stance and big dimensions, the SUV looks rugged and offers a commanding road presence. Upfront, it has chrome laden grille, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, pronounced bumper and muscular hood creases. Compared to its arch rival Toyota Fortuner, the Mahindra Alturas G4 is longer and wider with a slightly more stretched wheelbase. While the former measures 4795mm in length and 1855mm in width with a wheelbase of 2745mm, the latter is 4850mm long, 1960mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2865mm.
The dual-tone Nappa leather upholstery with soft touch materials gives a premium touch to its interior. The Mahindra Alturas G4 also offers an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options. The 8-way adjustable powered driver seat with memory function, a dual-zone fully automatic climate control, Smart boot and several other features add more to its comfort levels. The top-spec trim of the Mahindra Alturas G4 comes fitted with nine airbags, while hill assist, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) are standard across the lineup. The Alturas is the first car in its segment to offer electronic parking brake.
