Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has announced that it will hold a press night on February 3, 2020. It is expected that Volkswagen and Skoda products will be showcased at the event. For people not in the know, Skoda and Volkswagen have officially announced to participate in the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.

Skoda will showcase the Vision IN concept SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is expected that Volkswagen could also showcase the made-for-India T-Cross SUV, but in concept form on February 3, 2020. The SUV is also expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo.

VW T-Cross Front

The Volkswagen T-Cross will be launched in the Indian car market in 2021. The India-spec model will ride on a longer wheelbase compared to the European-spec model based on the MQB AO platform. Styling of the SUV will be similar to the global model, but it will receive India-specific styling tweaks. It will come with more chrome to the front styling, especially on the grille and the front bumper area.

The India-bound VW T-Cross is likely to be based on the MQB AO IN platform. It is likely to feature 2,651mm of wheelbase, which is around 90-100mm longer than the European-spec model. This will help VW to free up more space and legroom for rear occupants. Inside the cabin, the VW T-Cross will have plush interiors with colour-coded bits. It will be benefitted with high-end features with larger touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and sunroof.

The India-specific VW T-Cross will ride on 205mm ground clearance. The SUV is reportedly to be offered with 2 engine options – a 130bhp, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder EVO TSI and a 115bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged. The company is likely to introduce CNG powered T-Cross as well. The SUV will rival the likes of the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the entry-level variants of the MG Hector and Tata Harrier.
