The Baid family from Bengaluru traveled 22,780kms in a Fiat Linea to be in Paris for an overland visit. Anand Baid (38 years old) with his wife Punita (36) and two kids Dhriti (8) and Yash (12) decided to go on a road trip of a life-time in his Fiat Linea. The family had begun its journey from Bengaluru to Paris from April 8, 2015, and came back on July 28, 2015.
Over 111 days of their overland visit, the Baid family crossed 12 countries – India, Nepal, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Spain and France – and 50 cities in their route.
Anand Baid who calls his family ‘Little Family of Indian Explorers’ – L.I.F.E -, has raised funds from 14 companies, and his family well-wishers. In the journey, the Baid family faced rough terrains, high altitudes (over 18,000 feet) and natural calamities like earthquake in Nepal.
Since the Baid family is pure vegetarian, they had to face some health and gastronomic issues during their visit in certain countries. Though, Punita had carried a stove and few basic food ingredients that helped them calm their appetite in regions of opposite food culture. Both the kids – Yash and Drishti – enjoyed the entire journey, and helped their parents search hotels, tracking route with GPS and fuelling car all along the way.
During the journey, the Baid family made lots of local friends that made their adventurous visit an intimidating experience. Anand and Punita had fun driving their Fiat Linea T-Jet, and except a single regular servicing, they had no mechanical or any-other issue with the car.
